Updating

How Lynx keeps itself, and its Roblox module, current.

Two things need to stay current: the Lynx app, and the module that matches your Roblox build. Lynx looks after both when it starts. This page explains what happens and what you'll see.

App updates

Lynx checks for a new version every time it starts. If there is one, the Lynx Setup card shows Downloading UI update... and Lynx restarts into the new version by itself. There is nothing to click.

You're reading the docs for Lynx 0.0.0. The version is next to the wordmark in the title bar, and Home shows what changed. The changelog lists the releases.

Roblox updates

Roblox ships a new client most weeks. Each build moves functions and structures around, so the Lynx module is rebuilt for every one.

If Roblox updates before the matching Lynx build is out, you can keep using Lynx: downgrade Roblox to the version Lynx supports and carry on until the new build ships. Once it's published, restart Lynx: it refreshes its files on startup.

A Lifetime license never expires, and time-limited keys are paused until the new build ships.

Lynx currently targets Roblox Couldn't load, last updated Couldn't load.

What the setup card does

StepWhat happens
Checking for updates...Lynx asks the server for the current build.
Downloading UI update...A newer app exists. Lynx downloads it, swaps itself and restarts.
Checking LSP...The Luau language server behind the editor's completions is checked, and downloaded if it's missing or old.
Ready!Setup is done. The Login card or the app follows.

When nothing has changed, the card only checks and moves on.

If a step fails

When a download fails, the card shows Error: and the reason, and Lynx opens anyway after a few seconds. Check your connection and start Lynx again. If it keeps failing, tell us what the card said on Discord.
