Installation

Download Lynx from your dashboard, check the runtimes it needs and start it for the first time.

Setting Lynx up takes a few steps. You need a Lynx license, a PC running Windows 10 / 11 · x64, and the latest Roblox Player version that Lynx supports.

  1. Download Lynx

Sign in to your dashboard and download Lynx. It updates itself every time it starts, so there's no separate download for updates.

  2. Check the runtimes

Lynx depends on two Microsoft components. Most PCs already have them, and Windows 11 ships with WebView2.

    ComponentWhy Lynx needs it
Visual C++ 2015–2022 Redistributable (x64)The app and the module are built against it.
Microsoft Edge WebView2 RuntimeRenders the Lynx interface and the editor.
  3. Start Lynx

Open Lynx. It runs as administrator, so Windows asks for permission first. A Lynx Setup card then checks for updates and downloads what Lynx needs: the Luau language server the editor uses and the latest UI.

  4. Sign in

Enter your username and password on the Login card. Lynx saves the sign-in on this PC and signs you in by itself from then on. Your license is bound to the PC you sign in on. If you later move to a different PC, reset the binding from the dashboard.

  5. Look around

Lynx opens on Home: your execution activity, recent scripts and the changelog. Editor, Scripts and Settings are next to it in the title bar. You're set: head to the Quick start.
