Quick start

Launch Roblox from Lynx and run your first script.

Lynx started and signed in? If not, start with Installation.

  1. Start Roblox

    In Lynx, open Editor and click Play, or start Roblox yourself.

    Join any experience. Lynx's emulator loads Lynx as the game starts. There's nothing to attach.

  2. Check the client

    Click Clients. An attached client is listed with its avatar and how long it has been attached.

  3. Run your first script

    Paste this into the editor and press CtrlEnter.

    hello.luau
    1local Players = game:GetService("Players")
    2local player = Players.LocalPlayer
    3local name, version = identifyexecutor()
    4
    5local message = "Hello, %s. %s %s is attached."
    6print(message:format(player.DisplayName, name, version))
    7
    8-- Outline your character so you can see the script worked.
    9local highlight = Instance.new("Highlight")
    10highlight.FillTransparency = 1
    11highlight.OutlineColor = Color3.new(1, 1, 1)
    12highlight.Parent = player.Character or player.CharacterAdded:Wait()

    The greeting prints to Roblox's console (F9). Your character gets a white outline.

  4. Save it

    Press CtrlS and pick a name. The dialog opens in your Scripts folder.

    Click it under Files in the sidebar to reopen it. Right-click → Execute runs it.

What just happened

  • identifyexecutor returns the executor's name and the module's version.
  • print writes to Roblox's console, and to Lynx's Output panel once Settings → Client → Output Redirection is on.
  • The rest is plain Roblox Luau, with the Lynx API.
